The Memorandum signed today represents a further token of the Eni approach towards the countries where it operates, aimed at encouraging economic and social development of local communities.
Salekhard, 30 September, 2008 – The Governor of the autonomous region of Yamalo-Nenets (Russian Federation), Yury Neyolov, and Eni CEO Paolo Scaroni signed today a Memorandum of Understanding which sets the basis for the elaboration and the realization of social and cultural projects in the region.
Eni and the regional Authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets are committed, among other things, to promote joint initiatives in high level job training in the oil & gas sector, to contribute to the development of charity and sponsorship initiatives, and to co-operate in the realization of cultural and sport initiatives to be developed in the provinces of the autonomous region Yamalo-Nenets.
Thanks to this agreement, the regional organizations of Yamalo-Nenets, a Russian Federation’s autonomous region praising the highest rate of gas production in the world, will be able to establish stable and lasting relationships with Eni structures operating in the territory, and to carry out future initiatives of co-operation in social and economic areas.
The Memorandum signed today represents a further token of the Eni approach towards the countries where it operates, oriented to the development of the energetic resources in a contest of a constant activity aimed at encouraging economic and social development of local communities. Such a co-operation model has contributed to make Eni the first oil & gas company in the world in terms of business sustainability, as recently stated by the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, the first and most prestigious global stock exchange index for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Eni has been present in the Yamalo-Nenets region since April 2007, when, through the consortium EniNeftegaz (Eni 60% and Enel 40%), then renamed Severenerghia, it acquired the second lot, sold for the Yukos liquidation procedure, which includes the companies Arctic Gas, Urengoil and Neftegaztechnologia, besides some gas and condensate production assets.
