Process system integrators, DPS (Bristol) Ltd, have been awarded a process topsides FEED for the 40,000 bopd Oyo field FPSO (floating production storage and offloading vessel), destined for offshore Nigeria. Having themselves recently been awarded the main FPSO contract, Malaysia based FPSO operator Bumi Armada Berhad, have selected DPS as their topsides contractor.
Commenting on the project, DPS Group Managing Director, Neil Young said “Our scope initially involves the FEED elements of the entire process topsides design and integration, but will extend to include detailed design and procurement and construction.”
He continues “We are tremendously proud to have been awarded a project of this nature, which follows a long period of relationship and trust development between ourselves and Bumi Armada, and I would like to think demonstrates the high regard and growing reputation DPS has within the oil & gas industry. We share Bumi Armada’s FPSO ambitions and believe this is the start of a long term relationship.” Bumi Armada’s win of this Oyo FPSO against stiff international competition is unprecedented for a Malaysian company and advances its position to be among the most dynamic FPSO providers worldwide. Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Bumi Armada, Mr Hassan Basma adds, “Besides our growing reputation for managing large projects and delivering quality work on time and on budget, we believe it is important to be able to work well with reliable partners like DPS.”
Young adds “Once again we shall be utilising the skills of a number of DPS group companies to execute this contract. DPS Bristol will take the lead in terms of initial design, acting as the processing hub, whilst DPS Malaysia will undertake a section of the engineering and also provide an in-country interface for Bumi Armada. Additional input is likely to come from DPS Nigeria as the project progresses.”
