CNOOC Develops Environment-friendly Bags From PPC

Posted on July 10, 2008 – 1:56 pm | by vchris

CNOOC BlueChemical Limited (China BlueChem) and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, have successfully developed a kind of green plastic bags made from carbon dioxide degradable materials. The bags can be wholly biodegraded in compost, leaving no impact on the environment.

While carrying out the carbon dioxide degradable plastics (PPC) project with an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons, China BlueChem had been conducting research on the application of PPC. In November 2007, the company and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry jointly set up the project of “Research and Application of Carbon Dioxide-Based Plastic High Barrier Film”. Overcoming numerous technological obstacles, they successfully developed this kind of green plastic bags.

According to the experts of Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, it is the first time in the world to make environment friendly bags from PPC.
