A second oil company declares force majeure in less than a week, US giant Chevron said that due to the attack on its pipeline on June 19 that shut in its production, it was declaring a force majeure.
While the company said that the attack had no impact on its offshore production it was declaring the force majeure “because production losses will result in delayed loadings of a few cargoes at the terminal.”
Shell also suffered an attack on its Bonga offshore facility on June 19 when MEND forces attacked the platform. Shell has already restarted its production from the field; however, the attack did lead to the company declaring a force majeure on June and July deliveries from the field.
