Oando Gas and Power Wins Second Nigerian Gas Awards

Oando Gas and Power, a subsidiary of Oando PLC, Nigeria’s leading integrated energy group, has won the Gas Corporate Award (Downstream) for 2008 as the Best Gas Company operating in the Downstream Energy Sector. This is the second time the company is being awarded. The awards, which was instituted in 2006, is organised by Nigerian Energy Digest (NED) Conferences, publishers of ‘Nigeria Energy Digest’ and the ‘Quality Management Development Institute’.
The award was in recognition of the fact that the company made the highest impact on downstream gas development in the course of the year. Notable achievements also include:

Commenting on the award, Mr. Bolaji Osunsanya, Managing Director of Oando Gas & Power Limited, states, “This award once again demonstrates the impact our energy solutions have on the industry. We are indeed encouraged by this gesture to provide more value-adding solutions for Nigerians especially in the face of our energy challenges today”.
The company embarked on an expansion project that promises to deliver 1.809 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of natural gas to Apapa industrial area. The Greater Lagos project was built at a cost of over N8bn and spans a distance of 100km through Ojota, Maryland, Obanikoro, Iganmu, Alaka, Wharf, Apapa, Tin Can Island and Amuwo Odofin.
In the near future, Oando Gas & Power plans to extend its gas transmission and distribution business beyond Lagos State, to other parts of Nigeria and West Africa. The company positions itself as the preferred Local Distribution Company (LDC) for West Africa particularly Ghana, Togo and Benin.
