Regulatory News:
Technip (Paris:TEC) (ISIN:FR0000131708) has been awarded by BP a frame agreement to provide all diving construction services for extensions to existing hydrocarbon field development projects in the North Sea. Under the terms of this contract, Technip will be the exclusive provider of these services for the next two years, with two additional 12 month options available to BP.
Technip’s operating center in Aberdeen (Scotland) will execute these services, which could include:
project management,
engineering,
provision of diving support, trenching(1) support and umbilical installation vessels,
installation of subsea structures (up to 200 tons), and
installation of deepwater risers(2) for West of Shetland developments.
This is the first time that BP has adopted such an approach for its subsea construction CAPEX. Its aim is to further enhance performance in key strategic areas including HSE, supplier feedback, cost, efficiency and schedule management.
This award firmly establishes Technip as BP’s diving contractor of choice for subsea work. Technip already handles the operator’s subsea repair and maintenance works for BP E&P Europe North Sea Operations, and has also undertaken some of the operator’s major projects including the Rhum and Magnus Conductor developments, in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
(1) Trenching: burying of offshore or onshore pipelines in a trench in order to protect them.
(2) Riser: a pipe or assembly of pipes used to transfer produced fluids from the seabed to surface facilities, and transfer injection or control fluids from the surface facilities to the seabed.
With a workforce of 23,000 people, Technip ranks among the top five corporations in the field of oil, gas and petrochemical engineering, construction and services. The Group is headquartered in Paris.
The Group’s main operating centers and business units are located in France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, the USA, Brazil, Abu-Dhabi, China, India, Malaysia and Australia.
In support of its activities, the Group manufactures flexible pipes and umbilicals, and builds offshore platforms in its manufacturing plants and fabrication yards in France, Brazil, the UK, the USA, Finland and Angola, and has a fleet of specialized vessels for pipeline installation and subsea construction.
The Technip share is listed in Paris on Euronext Paris.
