Colombia Drilling Update: Monza-1 Exploration Well
Baraka Colombia Operations, a fully owned subsidiary of Baraka Petroleum Limited (ASX: BKP, the “Company” or “Baraka”) in conjunction with the Operator Omega Energy Colombia SA, and its Joint Venture partners, provides the following report on the progress of the Monza-1 exploration well in the Chicuaco Block, Llanos Basin, Colombia.
Progress and Current Status:- As of 2400hours Colombian Time on 24 March 2008, the Monza-1 exploration well has reached a total depth of 4,863 feet (1482.2 metres).
The well failed to encounter significant hydrocarbons in the target Carbonera Formation. Wireline logging operations have been completed and the well will be plugged and abandoned.
Following completion of activities at the Monza site the Pexin 6 drill rig will be moved to the Mugello-1 drill site approximately 2 km northeast.
