WellDynamics Installs First SmartWell Intelligent Completion in Agbami Field, Offshore Nigeria

Deployment Is Important Component of Chevron’s Growth Strategy in West Africa
HOUSTON & LAGOS, Nigeria–(BUSINESS WIRE)–WellDynamics, the leading provider of intelligent completion technology to the upstream oil industry, announced today that Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited (Star Deep Water), an affiliate of Chevron Corporation, has successfully deployed WellDynamics’ SmartWell® intelligent well completion technology in Nigeria’s Agbami field. The two-zone completion, a first for Star Deep Water in Nigeria and offshore West Africa, will balance production between zones and control water encroachment into the wellbore.
The installation of the field’s first SmartWell® completion signals a successful planning phase that includes managing and integrating technologies from multiple vendors. The field development plan consists of 20 oil producers, 12 water injectors and six gas injector wells with flow control, permanent monitoring, or both. The single-wellbore completions are expected to produce from, or inject into, two distinct sand units.
The completion consists of WellDynamics’ Direct Hydraulics with the Accu-Pulse™ downhole control system, multi-position HVC interval control valve (ICV) with customized flow trim, HF-1 packers and downhole gauges, as well as a multi-phase downhole flowmeter and an automated surface control system.
