Eni estimates to recover between 80 and 120 million boe from the Marulk discovery
San Donato Milanese (Milan), 29 January 2008 - Eni has successfully completed drilling of the exploration well 6507/2-4, located some 21 km south-west of the Norne field (Eni 6.9%) in the Norwegian Sea.
The exploration well, located in the Production Licence 122 at a water depth of 365 meters, has confirmed the extension of the gas-and-condensate Marulk discovery, which Eni operates with a 20% stake. The other partners are Statoil Hydro (50%) and DONG Energy (30%).
The well was drilled at a depth of 3,600 meters below the sea surface and highlighted a potential production superior than expected, as Eni now estimates to recover between 80 and 120 million boe from the Marulk discovery.
Eni started operating in Norway in 1964. The company’s current equity hydrocarbon production in the country reaches some 140,000 boe/day.
